Stratobel safety glass
High-end safety
Specially developed for high-security applications, Stratobel – long marketed in the DACH region under the name ipasafe – is our comprehensive range of safety and laminated safety glass products offering active, passive and structural safety properties. Its protective performance is based on polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayers placed between two or more panes of glass. If the glass breaks, most fragments remain adhered to the interlayer so that the pane stays in the frame. This protects people nearby from injury and also provides passive safety by helping to prevent break-ins. The level of protection depends on the glass thickness and the construction, meaning the number and type of PVB interlayers used.
In certification tests, the performance of each glass configuration is assessed with regard to ageing resistance (EN 12543), resistance to soft-body impact (EN 12600), and resistance to heavy impact and burglary attack (EN 356). Additional functions can be achieved by incorporating special PVB interlayers or specially tinted float glass and coated products.
