New product range with verified GWP data
The technical data for all AGC Interpane insulating glass products – known as ‘Pocket Values’ – has now been supplemented with third-party verified data on Global Warming Potential (GWP). At the same time, the range of double- and triple-silver-coated solar control glass has been revised to meet the growing demands for protection against summer heat. To this end, the company offers coated base glass and bespoke double and triple glazing solutions for the wide variety of climatic requirements encountered in global architectural projects. Low-carbon variants are available for all standard and project-specific coatings on AGC’s “Clearlite” float glass; these have also been included in the technical data due to their reduced GWP.
The technical specifications for all AGC Interpane insulating glass products have now been updated and supplemented with the latest information on Global Warming Potential (GWP) and low-carbon variants for almost all products. To be prepared for climate change, which is bringing ever-longer and more frequent heatwaves, the company is adapting its sun protection solutions accordingly. At the same time, building users continue to favour maximising the amount of daylight, as this enhances comfort and reduces the need for artificial lighting.
Highly selective and colour-neutral
Highly selective coatings such as Stopray Ultraselect 60/27 (S = 2.22) strike the right balance between high solar control and high daylight transmission. In a double-glazed unit, with a g-value of just 27 per cent, it effectively reduces the cooling load in rooms behind large glass façades. At the same time, it transmits a high 60 per cent of visible light, ensuring plenty of daylight and bright rooms all year round. Whilst the standard product has a GWP of 17.1 kg CO₂ eq./m², this is reduced to 8.0 kg CO₂ eq./m² in the low-carbon version (life cycle assessment for the ‘cradle-to-gate’ phase (A1–A3) in accordance with EN 15804+A2:2019).
In many warm regions of the world, there is a demand for alternatives that offer greater glare protection, solar control and, often, privacy. ‘Stopray Silver 47/29’, for example, is well-suited to this purpose – with an external reflectance of 40 per cent, it reduces the g-value to 29 per cent and the daylight transmittance to 47 per cent. Architects also use this solar control glass where specifications require it, partly due to its silvery, reflective aesthetic, particularly with large glazing areas. The standard version of Stopray Silver 47/29 has a GWP of 17.1 kg CO₂ eq./m², and is available as a low-carbon version with a lower GWP of 8.0 kg CO₂ eq./m².
In cooler regions, such as Scandinavia, it is often not necessary to maximise solar control due to the shorter summers; daylight transmission and thermal insulation are even more important here. To this end, AGC Interpane has developed coatings such as ‘Energy 70/37’. It features neutral specular reflectance and, with a daylight transmission of 70 per cent, creates bright and transparent glass façades. With a g-value of 37 per cent, the solar control is sufficient for most glass façades in the relevant geographical locations. The thermal insulation performance is Ug = 1.0 W/(m²K) in a double-glazed unit and 0.6 W/(m²K) in a triple-glazed unit (with argon gas filling). Like Stopray Ultraselect 60/27, Energy also has a GWP of 17.1 kg CO₂ eq./m² in the standard version and 8.0 kg CO₂ eq./m² in the low-carbon variant.
Thanks to its extensive experience in the project sector, AGC Interpane Architectural Glass manufactures functional insulating glass units in flexible dimensions of up to 3.21 x 19 metres (on request). The unit advises architects and façade contractors throughout the planning process and also on logistics.
