AGC Interpane Group: Change of ownership completed
Around eleven years ago, AGC Glass Europe acquired a 51% stake in Interpane Glas Industrie AG. At the end of last year, the full takeover was completed with the acquisition of the remaining shares. Sebastian Schmidt and Dominik Waldeyer were appointed as new board members by the AGC Interpane Supervisory Board.
Schmidt has been with Interpane since 2000 and was Managing Director of the Belgern and Wipperfürth processing sites for more than a decade. His current responsibilities will be transferred to the new addition and future Managing Director Dr. Jan Wennemer from June 2023. Dominik Waldeyer has been with the Group in various roles since 2006 and has been the company’s Finance Director since 2015.
AGC Interpane announces that the existing majority shareholder AGC Glass Europe acquired the remaining 49 percent of the shares in Interpane Glas Industrie AG and Interpane International at the end of last year. The new board members Sebastian Schmidt and Dominik Waldeyer are confident to further expand the market shares for AGC Interpane and to continue the growth course. The Group only recently took over the management of AGC Mirest (France) from the new owner and is now rapidly integrating this company into the Group structures: “The expertise we have gained over decades in the production and processing of float glass, our proximity to the local market and our strong international project business put us in a good position for this,” says Schmidt. Schmidt also sees future economic benefits in the Group’s clear focus on sustainability: “In many parts of the world, there is a socio-political consensus that sustainable business and living are becoming indispensable. How well and quickly companies manage to bring sustainable products and services to the market that are returned to the cycle in the best possible way will determine their success or failure. Our industry already has a great product that makes us part of the solution. Glass is the only building material that enables insulation and solar energy gains with an excellent balance. At the same time, we are facing enormous efforts to reduce the ‘energy payback time’ and achieve CO2-neutral production.” The acquisition of Interpane Glas Industrie AG by AGC offers both companies the opportunity to combine their strengths and further expand and utilize synergies.
