AGC Glass Europe: Design glass for interiors
New products from Mirox and Lacobel
Shortly before the turn of the year, AGC Glass Europe presents new design glass for interior applications: “Stratobel Mirox” is a laminated safety glass mirror that combines the functional and optical qualities of a conventional Mirox mirror with the additional protective function of laminated glass. It enables mirrored wall cladding, partition walls and other interior applications that require a higher level of safety. AGC has updated the color palette for the back-painted “Lacobel” design glass, which enhances furniture and walls in the interior with a glossy aesthetic: In 13 new and revised colors, they can be cleverly combined with a variety of materials, such as wood, stone and metal. For additional safety, a transparent SAFE+ film can be applied, which binds the glass splinters in the event of breakage and thus protects against injury.
The new laminated glass mirror from AGC Glass Europe is available in two versions to suit different applications: “Stratobel Mirox Duo” consists of two mirror glass panes, for example for use in room-structuring partition walls with reflection on both sides; ‘Stratobel Mirox Mono’ consists of one pane of mirror glass and one pane of float glass, for example for wall cladding to visually enlarge rooms and play with light and reflection. Both versions are laminated with one or two special PVB films with particularly high adhesion to ensure increased safety requirements. With one film, the safety mirror achieves safety class 2B2 in accordance with EN 12600, and with two films, it even achieves class P2A in accordance with EN 356. Stratobel Mirox therefore meets far higher requirements than those specified in EN 1036-1 for standard mirrors. Nevertheless, the high-quality mirrors are as easy to process as conventional laminated glass. A copper- and lead-free protective coating of the silver layer ensures special sustainability and durability – the air quality is maintained as volatile organic compounds (VOC) and formaldehyde are only emitted to a very small extent. Stratobel Mirox is available in four thicknesses (33.1, 33.2) and bears the CE mark in accordance with the harmonized standard EN 14449:2005.
Lacobel in 13 modern colors
Today, Lacobel is a synonym for back-painted glass with a glossy surface. Many processors are unaware that the name is a protected trademark of AGC Glass Europe and not a generic term for back-painted glass, so firmly is the product anchored in the minds of many glass processors. Thanks to an industrial production process and its outstanding color homogeneity, Lacobel is predestined for high-quality interior applications, whether as a furniture surface or wall covering. The “glossy” aesthetic of Lacobel can be perfectly combined with its matt counterpart from AGC, “Matelac”, or with warm wood surfaces, fabrics, stone or metal for a pleasant change of material. AGC has recently updated the color palette and now offers the design glass in 13 selected colors that perfectly match current interior trends. Interior architects and designers who would like to customize the colour scheme instead, for example to match a specific corporate design, can use the AGC “MyColour” service to order larger quantities.
