Safety glass

Glazing with high active, passive and structural safety

Specially developed for high security, Stratobel – also marketed as ipasafe in the DACH region for a long time – is our comprehensive range of safety and laminated safety glass products.

The protective effect is based on polyvinyl butyral (PVB) films between two or more panes of glass. If the glass breaks, most of the fragments adhere to the interlayer so that the glass remains in the frame. This protects people in the vicinity from injury and also creates passive security, as break-ins are prevented. The security level is determined by the thickness of the glass and the structure (i.e. the number and type of PVB interlayers).

In certification tests, the performance of each glass structure is assessed in terms of ageing (EN 12543), resistance to soft impacts (EN 12600) and resistance to strong impacts and burglary (EN 356). If special PVB interlayers or specially tinted float glass or coated products are added, this results in additional functions.

Environmental certification

Consistent certification according to Cradle to Cradle

Our products are not only market leaders in terms of technology and aesthetics, but also ecologically: the European AGC Group has been certifying its glazing in accordance with Cradle to Cradle, a strict testing system for sustainability and recyclability, since 2010. “C2C” describes the sustainability of a product over its entire life cycle. For certification, it must meet strict requirements in five categories: Material health, recyclability, renewable energy, water consumption and social responsibility.

The AGC Group has the world’s most comprehensive portfolio of glass products, which are certified at bronze, silver and gold level. This makes the European AGC Group the pioneer for sustainability in the glass industry.
