Vacuum glass “Fineo” now available in German-speaking countries

Initial optimizations and the corona pandemic have delayed the market launch of the vacuum insulating glazing “Fineo” from the Belgian company Fineoglass (a member of the European AGC Group), but the product, which is in high demand, is now also available in German-speaking markets. “The coronavirus pandemic has cost us time, but we have used it effectively: Our production facilities in Lodelinsart, Belgium, were expanded, logistical processes were optimized and the German-speaking sales team was installed. Now we’re ready to go!” explains Roland Skomda, Head of Sales and Consulting in German-speaking countries. In November, the company plans to enter into discussions with professional renovators and restorers at the Leipzig trade fair “Denkmal”, the leading European trade fair for historical restoration and old building renovation (November 5 – 7, 2020, Hall 2, Stand G09).

The “Fineo” vacuum glass has been available in AGC Glass Europe’s home market of Belgium and the Netherlands since September 2019 and is in constant demand. The product is now also being launched in the German-speaking markets and comes with numerous technical features that are currently unique:

Slim, aesthetic design

Fineo has the delicate aesthetics of single-pane glass, as it consists of two panes of glass at least three millimetres thick, each with a highly insulating coating and only separated by a vacuum layer of 0.1 millimetres. In contrast to competitor products, it does not require an evacuation opening – there is no need for any maintenance, the aesthetics are significantly improved and the technical values remain constant over the long term. Fineo is ideally suited for retrofitting into existing profiles.

Outstanding thermal insulation, more living comfort

With a Ug value of 0.7 W/(m²K), the new vacuum insulating glass insulates just as well as triple thermal insulation glazing in its standard design, but weighs a third less in terms of glass content alone, which enables more delicate profiles and installation in windows of historic old buildings. Compared to conventional triple thermal insulation glass with two low-E coatings, 15 percent more daylight enters the room and sound insulation is improved by 3 decibels (RW + Ctr according to EN 12758), even in the low-frequency spectrum, for example due to traffic noise. In addition, there are no convection losses when installed horizontally or at an angle, which significantly improves living comfort and the energy balance. As Fineo does not have any conventional seals, but is fused together ceramically in a narrow edge area of 5 millimetres, the insulation remains constant indefinitely unless the glass is physically destroyed.

Conserving resources

Fineo is not only technically interesting, the positive environmental performance of the product is also impressive. Thanks to its filigree structure, the glass generates 30 percent more solar energy gains in the cold winter months than triple glazing with a comparable insulating effect – this significantly reduces heating requirements and protects the climate. The product is also free of any harmful substances and 100 percent recyclable. In November, when the product is presented to the trade public at the “Denkmal” trade fair, the strict “Cradle to Cradle” certification already applies, which makes it easier for architects and planners to obtain ecological certification for buildings in accordance with environmental standards such as Leed and Breeam and enables genuine material cycles – conserving resources.
